Alfonso Ribeiro Is 'America's Funniest Home Videos' New Host

Alfonso Ribeiro has been announced as the new host of "America's Funniest Home Videos," succeeding Tom Bergeron, who led the ABC program for nearly 15 years.

Last year, Bergeron announced he would be leaving “America’s Funniest Home Videos” after season 25, according to Entertainment Weekly. He also currently hosts "Dancing With the Stars," which crowned Ribeiro its season 19 champion last year. New episodes will reportedly begin filming next month to air next fall.

Ribeiro is best known for his role as Carlton on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

"It won’t be very different," Ribeiro told EW of his new role. "It’s really about assisting the videos not trying to overpower the videos with your comedy. But I have a different energy than Tom does and I’m very animated and energetic, and some of that will absolutely come through. I’m sure it will be dance-related in some form . . . For me to able to come in and replace Tom, who’s my idol in the hosting world, will be a challenge but one that I feel excited to be a part of.”

When questioned about his favorite “home videos,” Ribeiro said, “My favorite is when people do things to hurt themselves. I just love watching people attempt to do something that they absolutely should not attempt to do and wipe out. I love it.”

Fans of "America's Home Videos" and Ribeiro soon took to Twitter to discuss the new appointment.
