Alanis Morissette discovered that burglars had stolen her safe last week with about $2 million in jewels inside.

Burglars apparently entered the singer's home, in Los Angeles's Brentwood neighborhood, on Feb. 9 and took the safe along with damaging the home, Los Angeles Police Det. Meghan Aguilar told the Los Angeles Times. The newspaper said detectives returned to the home again on Tuesday as part of the investigation.

TMZ reported that the Grammy-winning singer, 42, was not home at the time of the burglary. Police told KABC-TV that they did not have any description of suspects at this time.

The television station said it was the second time Morissette was hit with unfortunate news in recent months. Her former business manager Jonathan Todd Schwartz was charged with fraud, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, KABC-TV reported last month.

Schwartz, who managed other entertainers and professional athletes, was accused of wire fraud and filing a false tax return, KABC-TV reported.

Morissette reportedly fired Schwartz last year before filing a lawsuit against him.

Prosecutors said Schwartz admitted withdrawing about $4.8 million belonging to Morissette between May 2010 and January 2014, for himself and without her knowledge, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office in January.

As part of a plea deal, Schwartz reportedly admitted embezzling more than $1 million from another client and $737,500 from a third one, forging that person's signature on at least two receipts, noted the statement.

KABC-TV reported that other celebrities have been hit with high-end burglaries in the past few months, including rapper Nicki Minaj and former Los Angeles Lakers player Derek Fisher.

Morissette, who was born in Canada but became an American citizen in 2005, used Instagram in November to show off her "I Voted" sticker while nursing her second child, People magazine reported. The singer gave birth last June to a girl, Onyx, with rapper husband Mario "Souleye" Treadway. Morissette also has a son, Ever, noted the magazine.

Morissette, who performed on Nickelodeon as a child, hit it big musically with her 1995 album "Jagged Little Pill," establishing her as one of the top alternative rock performers of that decade, according to Biography.com.
