Alan Thicke’s estate has become a source of contention for his family since he died six months ago playing hockey with his youngest son Carter.

Sons Robin and Brennan Thicke, the co-executors, have filed a petition to get help sorting out the legalities of a 1988 trust that was amended last year and a 2005 prenup signed by Thicke’s third wife, Tanya Callau, according to Forbes.

The petition says Callau has engaged in “avarice and overreaching,” but Callau’s lawyer Adam Streisand denies the allegations and says she is still grieving her husband and wants to handle his sons’ statements privately, Forbes reported.

The sons’ lawyer Alex Weingarten said they want to enforce the trust and “honor his intentions,” according to Forbes. “It was Alan’s money; it was Alan’s career; it was Alan’s talent; he had the right to decide what would happen to it upon his passing,” Weingarten said.

The prenup said Thicke was supposed to name Callau as a beneficiary in his will, giving her 25 percent of his net estate that included a quarter of his $3.5 million ranch, but the trust doesn’t give her anything but the right to live there if she can pay 100 percent of the expenses, Forbes reported.

According to TMZ, Callau gave up her career to help raise Carter and thinks she deserves a greater share of the estate than what the will granted her, which included a $500,000 life insurance policy and 40 percent of Thicke's remaining estate after other distributions. The sons are asking a judge to enforce the will and prenup.

The brothers also said Callau threatened them with bad press if they fought her efforts to get more of the estate, Forbes reported.
