Rock band AC/DC is releasing its first album in six years on Dec. 2, but it will be without guitarist Malcolm Young, who is retiring from the group.

Young took a break from the band earlier this year because of illness, and now the band has announced his permanent departure. Details of Young’s health condition haven’t been released.

The album, “Rock or Bust,” is the band’s first album since 2008 and will include 11 new songs including “Play Ball,” which will be previewed on Turner Sports on Sept. 27.

Young’s nephew, Stevie Young, has taken his place on the album and will join AC/DC on a world tour to promote the album, according to The Guardian.

"Rock or Bust" was recorded in the spring at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver with producer Brendan O’Brien and mixer Mike Fraser, according to a press release on the band’s website.

Fans expressed excitement about the new album and regrets about Young’s departure on Twitter.
