Three men were gored in Pamplona's annual bull run this week, two Americans and a Briton.

According to The Guardian U.K. a 38-year-old American was gored in the armpit, while a 27-year-old was scraped on his back. A 30-year-old British man was injured after being gored in the groin. None of the injuries were considered life threatening.

The San Fermín festival is one of Spain's most iconic events, and this year the nine-day event sourced six of the bulls from the Extremadura, known for the ferocity of its bulls. One of the bulls, named Fastuoso, or Magnificent, tossed a runner into a wall, breaking a water pipe.

The 930-yard dash kicks off the festival each year, and later the bulls are often killed in traditional matador-led bullfights.

The festival was first made famous the world over by Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises."

The Associated Press reported via USA Today that two men have died in smaller bull runs this year. One came as recently as Saturday, in the eastern town of Grao de Castellon, and the other occurred in late June in the southwestern town of Coria.

In total, it's estimated that 15 people have died of goring during the Pamplona festival since 1924. The last fatality occurred in 2009.
