29 Sumo Wrestlers Squeeze onto Small Plane Like Sardines in Viral Photo

Twitter's newest viral sensations are the 29 sumo wrestlers who were photographed cramming their way onto a small jet Tuesday.

BoingBoing.com reported that the wrestlers are all part of the Hakkaku Stable sumo organization, and were bound for a training camp in Japan’s Shimane Prefecture. As you see, there's not too much room for the drink cart.

Sumo wrestlers in general weigh in at an average of 330 pounds, so the sumos on this plane likely added 4.7 tons — nearly 10,000 pounds — to their JAL jet, The Telegraph U.K. noted.

Sumo wrestlers consume roughly 20,000 calories a day, which is more than four times the intake of an average person, and before the flight they snuck in a little (or big) snack at one of the airport restaurants.

Although a few of the sumos were looking a little nervous before the flight . . .

Everything turned out just fine.
