A 14-year-old boy was able to live at a Texas Wal-Mart for more than two days before being found out, changing clothes often and wearing diapers to avoid using the restroom.

The boy created two secret compounds behind products in the Corsicana Wal-Mart and lived there for two and a half days before being discovered, CBS DFW reported. Other reports said he was there for four days.

The secret living areas were behind strollers and behind paper towels and toilet paper, the station said. The boy ate food from the store and even took a pet fish from the pet department.

The 14-year-old boy has a history of running away, and was staying with his aunt while his parents were out of town. He fled while she was watching television, The New York Daily News reported.

A trail of trash led employees to the boy.

Wal-Mart spokesman Brian Nick told the Daily News that store managers were concerned about the boy’s safety, and local authorities were called.

“This is a sad situation,” he said.

The store has not asked police to press charges.

The boy was released to his family. There appears to be no indication of abuse or neglect, the Daily News reported.

Twitter users were shocked that the kid could live in Wal-Mart for a few days.
