It is this reporter's opinion that it is time to take another look at the population explosion.
Are you aware that we are adding 1 billion people to the planet every 12 to 15 years?
Brilliant author August Anson has written a compelling book with a strange name “Wecskaop,” an acronym for “What Every Citizen Should Know About Our Planet, A Planetary Handbook for the Times in Which We Live.”
He offers a frightening story of the half century that lies ahead, sobering statistics as humanity adds 1 billion people every 12 to 15 years.
Anson offers an example: “If this is Friday, by next Monday, the planet becomes home to 600,000 additional people.”
Anson cites this fact: “Ecosystems can absorb a certain amount of stress without noticeable effect, but once a critical level is reached, the disruption can be cataclysmic.”
The author pulls no punches. First we feed Earth’s existing 6.6 billion, then we must somehow feed 600,000 added every three days, endlessly into the future.
Steven Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, quotes statistics on illegal immigration impact on overall population growth and age distribution.
Camarota offers three projections. If net immigration continues at the current rate of 1.25 million per year, by the year 2060, our total population will increase by 167 million. According to Camarota, the minority population will grow by 152 million and a majority of the U.S. population will be 51 percent “non-white” by 2050.
In the 21st century, America faces the worst threat to its existence since the Civil War with massive unrelenting illegal migration from Mexico and around the world threatening the viability, culture, language, and future of our nation.
The population explosion is our greatest calamity as we outstrip our ability to water, feed, and house ourselves. Only recently have we begun to talk about the population explosion. A member of the House of Representatives, Tom Tancredo of Colorado, has gained national acclaim and derision for his efforts. Tancredo understands our dilemma as others join him in facing this national problem.
An old high school professor of mine once said, “Of all the inhabitants on the planet, only man has been imbued with freedom of choice, and sometimes this imperfect being appears determined to destroy himself.”
Only time will tell.
