COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A state senator says he's found four more pricey flights that South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford took that violated rules requiring officials to use lowest-cost travel.
Republican Sen. David Thomas says Sanford flew business class on trips to Austria, Germany, Poland, and Asia that cost taxpayers nearly $14,000 more than economy class.
Thomas, who is running for Congress, said earlier that two other trips cost an extra $13,700. The Associated Press reported about Sanford's pricey commercial flights last month.
Sanford has said he needed the costly seats to be well-rested. Spokesman Ben Fox said Monday the governor had no additional comment.
Sanford has been under scrutiny since he revealed a yearlong affair with an Argentine woman in June.
