Obama, Pelosi Put Aside Trade Dispute to Raise Campaign Cash

Friday, 19 Jun 2015 10:02 PM

President Barack Obama is calling House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi an "extraordinary partner in Congress," despite their split on trade.

The two put aside their dispute over the trade legislation to raise money for Democratic House candidates.

Friday evening in San Francisco, Pelosi told more than 50 donors who paid up to $33,400 that Obama's executive actions have been "fabulous."

Obama gave the briefest mention to the issue dividing them by saying trade pacts must ensure other countries have fair high standards. He also acknowledged their division by saying he doesn't agree with the Democrat caucus on everything.

But he says on 98 percent of things they are moving in the right direction.

The fundraiser was at the home of hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer in Pelosi's San Francisco district.
