Jeb Bush Cuts Last Business Ties as Campaign Looms

Wednesday, 11 Mar 2015 04:44 PM

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is ending his relationship with the last two businesses he's helped lead since leaving the governor's office, as he prepares for his all-but-announced candidacy for president.

Aides to Bush's political action committee say he is selling his ownership in Jeb Bush & Associates, a business consulting firm he opened in 2007, the year he left the governorship after two terms.

He is also selling his stake in Britton Hill Partnership, a private equity firm specializing in energy, aviation, oil, gas and other services.

The move eliminates the remaining major obstacles to the launch of a presidential campaign in 2016.

Since December, Bush has been raising money for his political action committee, giving political speeches and visiting early primary states.
