Donald Trump has squeaked by Hillary Clinton in the latest Rasmussen Reports weekly presidential poll.

A July 5th survey of 1,000 likely U.S. voters — asked who they would support for president — found:
  • Donald Trump — 42 percent
  • Hillary Clinton — 40 percent
  • Those wanting an alternative — 13 percent
  • Undecided — 5 percent
The survey was taken after FBI Director James Comey revealed his agency would not recommend charges be filed against Clinton, despite her "extremely careless" handling of classified information as secretary of state.

In other findings, Trump now earns 73 percent support among his fellow Republicans and picks up 13 percent of the Democratic vote. Seventy-nine percent of Democrats like Clinton, as do 11 percent of GOP voters.

Among voters not affiliated with either major party, Trump holds a 20-point lead, but 33 percent of these voters like some other candidate or are undecided.

Trump also holds a 15-point lead among men, with Clinton leading by 11 among women.

Clinton continues to hold a wide lead among blacks. Trump leads by 11 points among whites, while the two are nearly tied among other minority voters.

The survey's margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
