Although supporters of President Donald Trump do not appear to mind his tweets in general, some do have problems with his use of Twitter in certain circumstances, according to a CNN report.

"It's like a modern-day constituent letter," said Emma Leach, who says his use of Twitter energizes younger people like herself. "They're tweeting at their president, they're voicing their opinion, and they're more politically involved."

Many also agree with Trump that Twitter offers the ability to bypass media that is seen as unfair and to receive the president's viewpoint unfiltered and very quickly.

But Ilene Wood told CNN that one problem is that Twitter also "creates a possibility of engaging your mouth before you've engaged your brain."

This point was further emphasized by Scott McCommons, who voted for Trump but whose opinion of him has changed for the worse. "I think he rants and raves. He doesn't think about it," and "I think he can do a lot better things with his time."

Ray Starner added that the topics of his tweets also do not show he is concentrating on what really needs to be done to improve the country. "He needs to tone it down and forget about Snoop Dogg, forget about Arnold Schwarzenegger. We don't really care about them, do we?"

Commentary Magazine highlighted these particular points by saying that although Trump's Twitter rants helped him in the election campaign, it is now coming back to haunt him as president by making many of the items he tweets into an unnecessary issue or distraction.

This is so, Commentary said, because Trump has not learned that "There is a good reason why the conventions of the presidency have developed as they have. Previous occupants of the Oval Office learned how valuable their time and attention is, and how much weight their words carry. Thus they have usually taken care to carefully measure their personal statements while retreating behind an armor of officialese to deal with most developments."
