Donald Trump Wednesday renewed his attack on Hillary Clinton failing the Washington Bar Association exam in 1973 as evidence that she was unfit for the White House, though the Democrat disclosed the result in her autobiography three decades later.

"Hillary Clinton is incompetent, the Republican nominee told a rally at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. "She's really incompetent. I believe this.

"She failed her bar exam in Washington, D.C.," he continued. "I told somebody that I'm not that surprised, actually.

"I'm telling you that she's incompetent — and she's incompetent for you."

Clinton sat for the D.C. Bar on July 23-24, according to records of the District of Columbia Bar Association, and was told that she failed on Nov. 3.

The former secretary of state disclosed the experience in her 2003 book, "Living History," citing it as a reason why she moved to Arkansas — where she also took the bar and passed — and followed Bill Clinton.

They met at Yale in 1971 and were married in 1975.

"Despite the satisfaction of my work, I was lonely and missed Bill more than I could stand," Hillary Clinton wrote. "I had taken both the Arkansas and Washington, D.C., bar exams during the summer, but my heart was pulling me toward Arkansas.

"When I learned that I passed in Arkansas but failed in D.C., I thought that maybe my test scores were telling me something."

Journalist Carl Bernstein also discussed the experience in his 2007 biography, "A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton."

"For the first time in her life, she had flamed out — spectacularly, given the expectations of others for her, and even more so on her own," Bernstein said. "Of 817 applicants, 551 of her peers had passed, most from law schools less prestigious than Yale.

"She kept this news hidden for the next 30 years," he added. "She never took the exam again, despite many opportunities.

"Her closest friends and associates were flabbergasted when she made the revelation in a single throwaway line in 'Living History,'" Bernstein said.

Trump has slammed Clinton on the D.C. bar exam, posting this on Twitter last month:
