Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Director of Legislative Affairs Marc Short are set to push for the Trump administration's tax reform at an event hosted by groups backed by wealthy GOP donors Charles and David Koch, The Hill is reporting.

The two are scheduled to speak on a panel with Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President James Davis and Americans for Property President Tim Phillips on Monday, the website said. Both Freedom Partners and AFP are part of the Koch brothers' network, according to the website.

The event presents the White House and the Koch network the opportunity to push the benefits of a tax-code rewrite, The Hill noted. It comes after White House officials and congressional GOP leaders released principles for overhauling the tax code.

The Koch network plans to spent millions to promote tax reform that follows five principles: simplicity, efficiency, equitability, predictability and no new burdens on taxpayers, the website noted.

AFP and Freedom Partners have already run ads looking to convince lawmakers to back tax reform.

And the Koch groups are planning to organize grassroots events when lawmarkers return to their home districts next month in hopes of convincing them to support tax reform, CNBC reports.

"There is no greater contributor to the rigged economy than the U.S. tax code, and comprehensive tax reform will help un-rig this broken system to the benefit of all Americans," Americans for Prosperity said in a statement.
