Donald Trump turned a 4-year-old tweet from President Barack Obama into a mocking, barbed jab at Hillary Clinton's acid-tongued categorization of half of her GOP rival's supporters as "deplorables."

Obama's 2012 post was a response to then-GOP nominee Mitt Romney's own disastrous gaffe, in which he asserted "47 percent" of Americans were so dependent on the government that they'd probably vote for the incumbent "no matter what" – a remark often attributed to the demise of his presidential bid, The Hill notes

Clinton is now getting hammered for her blunder Friday night that sounds crassly similar.

"You know, just to be grossly generalist, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables," she told a campaign fundraiser featuring a performance by Barbra Streisand.

Trump adviser Sarah Huckabee joined the pile-on Saturday, tweeting Clinton's remark was worse than Romney's – and "disqualifying."
