Melissa Young, Miss Wisconsin USA 2005, thanked Donald Trump in an emotional moment during a town hall event in Janesville, Wisconsin, last week for the support he gave her after she was diagnosed with an incurable illness.

"I just want to say, 'Thank you.' You have saved me, in so many ways, in recent years," Young told Trump at the rally Tuesday, Charisma News reports.

"I have been struggling with an incurable illness and I'm on home care now," Young said. "It was caused by a doctor's medical negligence, and in those dark days, fighting — right now all of the tubes have been removed and I have a do-not-resuscitate order and I have a 7-year-old son — in those days in the hospital, I received from you a handwritten letter that said, 'To the bravest woman I know.'"

Trump said he remembered writing the note and called Young "an amazing, beautiful woman."

He asked her if she is doing better now.

"No, but that's OK," she said.

"I'm here right now to thank you in person. That was my biggest dream," she said. "I wanted to thank you, because through you and your organizations, my son — who is Mexican-American and 7 years old — through your organizations, and just being able to stand on that stage with you back in 2005, the outpouring of love that came from that ultimately provided my son, when he graduates high school, with a full-ride to college."

Young was Miss Congeniality in the 2005 Miss USA Pageant — of which Trump was an owner at the time — and struck up a friendship with the winner, Chelsea Cooley Altman.

Altman started a fund to aid Young's son through Trump's FundAnything.com

"We're going to be watching your boy," Trump told Young. "But you're going to hopefully be around, and you're not going to have to have anyone watching. Believe me, those doctors are going to be so wrong. But we'll be helping you."

Trump walked to where Young was seated and the two hugged and kissed each other on the cheek. Trump called it, "the most beautiful moment I have had since campaigning for president."

Young has previously written an open letter to Trump to thank him for his support.
