Donald Trump said in upstate New York on Friday that he and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders shared similar views on how Americans have been badly affected by foreign trade deals — but that he was going "turn it around" by creating more manufacturing jobs.

"We probably have Sanders fans, right?" the Republican front-runner asked in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

The city, with a population of about 20,000, is across Lake Champlain from Burlington, Vermont, the senator's state.

"Do we have any?" Trump continued. The audience booed. "That's okay.

"I'll tell you, I'm not a fan. I'll tell you this: We have one thing in common. He knows our country is being ripped off in trade.

"The difference is that I really know our country is ripped off and badly — but I'm going turn it around, and I'm going turn it around in jobs for us, okay?"
