President Donald Trump’s advisers are reportedly trying to put an end to their infighting, as well as the large number of leaks from inside the administration, The Hill reported.

Disagreements between Jared Kushner, Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law, and Steve Bannon, the president's chief strategist, came to a head earlier this month. A White House official told CNN that Trump ordered the pair to "work this out," and to "cut it out."

He took them to Mar-a-Lago, where the two met with White House chief of staff Reince Priebus to "smooth things out," according to Fox News. At the time, press secretary Sean Spicer dismissed the reports of infighting as "overblown."

White House officials grew increasingly frustrated with how the story dominated the media, especially since it distracted from the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

The Hill reports that Bannon has ordered his supporters to cease attacking Kushner in the press, but that tensions still exist between the New York City "liberals" of Kushner, Ivanka Trump, economic adviser Gary Cohn, and deputy national security adviser Dina Powell, and Bannon's "conservative" group.

"We've all been shocked by the unprecedented level of leaking," Scott Reed, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s senior political strategist, told the Hill.

"Trump is a businessman and likes the competition and flow of different ideas, but the secret is for his team to have a level of discipline and keep it in-house," Reed said. "When they don't, it gives ammunition to the press and is bad for the president. Trump has cracked down on it and he was right to. People should shut up and do their jobs and get back on offense in a policy-oriented way. Palace intrigue is not going to grow the economy."
