Texas Sen. Cruz said Thursday that despite the criticism he's received for calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar on the Senate floor, no one has stepped forward to say he's wrong.

"Every word I said there is true and accurate. No one disputed a word I said," Cruz told an MSNBC town hall in Buffalo, N.Y., according to The Hill.

Cruz, who is seeking the GOP presidential nomination, was criticized by members of his own party in 2015 when he made a speech accusing McConnell of promising to move Export-Import Bank reauthorization to get support for fast-track trade legislation.

"Well, we now know that when the majority leader looks us in the eyes and makes an explicit commitment, that he is willing to say things that he knows are false," Cruz said on the Senate floor.

At Thursday's town hall, he said, "The reaction in the Senate is, 'How dare you say that out loud?' They’re not upset that somebody lied to them."
