Ted Cruz and Carly Fiorina told supporters Friday in Indiana that they presented the best contrast to both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, whom they slammed as "ultimate" Washington insiders.

"We don’t have two parties in Washington," the Texas senator told Fox News' Sean Hannity at a town hall meeting in Indianapolis. "We have one corrupt bipartisan mess in Washington."

He also blasted former House Speaker John Boehner's attack Wednesday, beginning: "I give Boehner credit for imagery. I suppose the speaker was letting out his inner Trump.

"It's actually very revealing. What Boehner is so angry with, not anything I've ever said to him, it's the fact that I stood up and said I'm going to honor the promises I made to the men and women who elected me."

Cruz said that he worked for a lawyer whom Boehner hired when he was not long out of Harvard Law School.

"I don't know that I ever met him," he told Hannity. "We haven't said 50 words to each the in our lives. I was a baby lawyer.

"Working on briefs and writing them. I don't know the man."

Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO whom Cruz chose as his running mate Wednesday should he win the Republican nomination, linked Trump and Clinton together because "they're two sides of the same coin.

"They are both the ultimate insiders," she added. "John Boehner says yesterday that Donald Trump is his texting and golfing buddy and Harry Reid thinks Donald Trump is okay, too.

"Donald Trump contributed seven times to Hillary Clinton. I'm sorry, it is not a choice or a contrast when Donald Trump agrees with Hillary Clinton on so many positions."

Cruz later acknowledged Trump's sweep of five Northeastern states on Tuesday, adding that the developer and Clinton "view Indiana as fly-over territory.

"In their view, America is New York City and Washington, D.C. — and it is the elites and the rich and the powerful.

"I think the values of Indiana are the values of America," Cruz continued. "It gives me great comfort that this primary is going to be decided by the Midwestern common sense of the Hoosier State.

"I don't think they're interested in some bully who yells and screams and doesn't have any real policy solutions."
