Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Tuesday that she has not ruled out running for office again.

When asked by Stuart Varney during an appearance on Fox Business Network's "Varney & Co." if the "hatred" directed at her the past few years has made her want to stay out of politics, the conservative Palin said it only spurs her to remain in the spotlight.

"It invigorates me, it wants me to get out there and defend the innocent," said Palin, who was on the 2008 presidential ticket with John McCain.

"It makes me want to work so hard for justice in this country. So, hey, the more they're pouring on, the more I'm going to bug the crap out of them by being out there with a voice, with the message, hopefully running for office in the future, too."

Palin added that other families are going through a lot more than hers is, because of things like losing a job, having a loved one serving in a war zone, and illness.

"There are so many challenges. Every family has a challenge," Palin said. "I just have to keep that in mind, that other people have it a lot tougher than we do.

"But also, Stuart, the bottom line of course is that liberals . . . they're out there playing the politics of personal destruction. They do want to destroy, personally, those who they disagree with. They're very, very intolerant of those who hold opposing views to their liberal, failed agenda views. They want to crush us."

Later in the interview, Palin was asked about her feelings on the state of GOP leadership.

"They need more guts," she said.

"They need to have the confidence that the American people understand that the planks in the Republican platform happen to be strong planks upon which our country can grow and prosper and be more secure, instead of being so hesitant, going along to get along, thinking, 'Oh, no, the media's gonna say something mean about me if I exercise some of the leadership that we're all craving.'

"I would like to see them have more confidence in what it is we stand for."
