The American Health Care Act proposal will get enough votes to pass the House of Representatives, according to Rep. Steve Scalise, the majority whip. He said there was a "path to yes" for any congressman who opposed the bill.

"I'm talking to members today that are undecided, that are 'no' and 'lean-no' and frankly there's a path for most of them to get to 'yes,'" Scalise said Friday on CNN's "New Day."

"We're working very closely with the White House on very specific changes that gets some of those members that are 'no' to a 'yes' vote on the bill," the Louisiana Republican added.

President Donald Trump has already shown that he is willing to negotiate over the bill to win over skeptical Republicans, Scalise said.

Some Republicans have said the bill does not undo enough parts of Obamacare, while others say the legislation would be too harmful to the voters in their areas.

Scalise said any modifications and negotiation would improve the bill, but the main parts will stay in place.

"It's only going to get better and I'm looking forward to working with the president to continue getting more members to 'yes' and then passing a repeal-and-replace bill out of the House," he said in the CNN interview.

The congressman has noted before his support for repealing and replacing Obamacare.

"You can't say it's broken, but let's keep some of Obamacare. You have to start over," he said Jan. 6.
