White House spokesman Sean Spicer has the confidence of President Donald Trump, counselor Kellyanne Conway said Friday, but "we also need for the president of the United States to be shown respect" from the media.

"Sean Spicer does a daily briefing," Conway told Eric Bolling on Fox News. "He does a tremendous job — and the president is commending the job he's doing."

Conway also slammed the press in her comments.

"We all know that we are also representing the president," she told Bolling. "We all know that the media can be rough on the president.

"We think they are often unfair and often incomplete in their coverage.

"But it is a two-way street and we hope it improves," she said. "I am very pro-press.

"I hope it improves, because we need to be fair and free press — but we also need the president of the United States to be shown respect."
