There is little use for Israel to bring evidence of its claims of collusion between the United Nations and President Barack Obama's administration to the current president, where it will be "squashed" rather than examined, Rep. Scott Perry said Monday.

"It's the sitting U.S. president that worked against a sitting Israeli prime minister, in his last election," the Pennsylvania Republican, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, told CNN's Poppy Harlow on the "New Day" program, responding to statements made by Ron Dermer, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, earlier in the program.

During that interview, with CNN's Don Lemon, Dermer said there is "clear evidence" that the United States was behind the action that lead to the U.N.'s vote against Israel's West Bank settlements last week.

"We have clear evidence of it [and] we will present that evidence to the new [Trump] administration, through the appropriate channels," Dermer said.

"I think that Ambassador Dermer rightly understands this administration is not friendly to Israel, is not going to give them a fair shake and not be above board," said Perry.

"So what is really the point of bringing the information forward now . . .  think they're looking for, and rightly so, a more favorable venue in a President-elect Trump administration."

Harlow argued that such resolutions have passed "multiple times," but Perry disagreed.

"When you say it has passed multiple administrations without a veto, it hasn't," said Perry. "This is the first time that it has passed. I mean, it makes the western wall an illegal place Jewish people to be. They can't even legally go to Hebrew University if you look at the strict construction of the resolution."

Perry also addressed questions about President-elect Donald Trump's process of distancing himself from his business matters, saying it is "standard fare" for elected officials to do so, but Trump's business holdings are very complicated.

"I'm sure there are literally teams of lawyers working to make sure that he is in compliance," Perry told CNN's Harlow on the "New Day" program.

"It's just that he hasn't come out and said that he necessarily would extricate himself fully," Harlow responded.

"I'm not an attorney, but I suspect answering prematurely might be problematic for anybody at that level and you want to make sure you get it right," said Perry.

"So with all due respect, he's probably waiting for them to come up with all the answers so that it can be comprehensive and correct."

Perry himself has come under some controversy after a meeting with the group "ACT for America," an organization labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as being anti-Muslim, reports the York Dispatch,. On Monday's show he said he often meets with people of "all different ideologies," whether or not he agrees with them.

"I just don't meet with terrorist organizations," Perry said. "Really, look at the Southern Poverty Law Center, as the arbiter of who is a hate groups or terrorist organizations is ludicrous.

"They have themselves have listed people like Dr. Ben Carson, the United States Border Patrol, as hate organizations, and the Family Research Council is another one. So they have very little credibility in this regard."
