CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley said Monday night President Donald Trump's comments about purported terrorist attacks that no one knows about and his halt on immigration from certain countries are "divorced from reality."

While standing in front of a screen that carried the headline, "Reality Check," Pelley tried to summarize Trump's day.

"President Trump told a U.S. military audience that there have been terrorist attacks that no one knows about because the media choose not to report them. It has been a busy day for presidential statements divorced from reality," Pelley said.

Mediaite published a clip of Pelley's comments.

Pelley, who has anchored the CBS Evening News since 2011, also spoke about Trump's remarks regarding negative polls and his temporary ban on immigration from seven countries with a terror presence — an order that is now in limbo as it gets sorted through the courts.

"Mr. Trump said this morning that any polls that show disapproval of his immigration ban are fake," Pelley noted. "He singled out a federal judge for ridicule after the judge suspended his ban, and Mr. Trump said that the ruling now means that anyone can enter the country.

"The president's claims, whether imaginary or fabricated, are now worrying even his backers," Pelley said.
