Bernie Sanders Does Not Want To Discuss 2020 Presidential Race

By    |   Wednesday, 14 Dec 2016 10:10 AM

Sen. Bernie Sanders is unhappy there is already talk of who will run for president in 2020.
Sanders, who lost in his bid to be the Democratic presidential nominee, appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and said attention should be on "real problems," like income inequality and the disappearing middle class.

"Are you going to run for president in 2086?" he asked Meyers. "Let's talk about that. We'll do a poll."

But Sanders says he remains hopeful about the nation's future.

"Maybe the most moving part of my campaign for president was just meeting literally well over a million people face-to-face in large rallies, small town meetings and seeing the beauty of this country. And that's not just rhetoric, Seth," he said.

"There are incredible beautiful people out there. Young people, old people, working people, who love this country and more than a few put their lives on the line to defend this country.

"And they want to make this country, the (nation) we all know it can become.

"So I saw an enormous amount of beauty and hope in this country which makes me very optimistic."

Earlier in the week, Sanders had questioned supporters of President-elect Donald Trump, asking why they would vote for "somebody who is lying," The Hill reported.

And he noted Trump won the race for the White House because "there's a lot of pain in this country," especially in the middle class that he was able to tap into, according to the report.
