Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said on Thursday's show that President Barack Obama's uplifting speech Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention might have sounded "Reaganesque," but he didn't really mean it.

In fact, the conservative commentator said, Obama "doesn't talk that way, except at election time."

Had Obama acted in word and deed during his two terms in office as he spoke on Wednesday, Republicans "wouldn't have a prayer," Limbaugh said. "If Obama had been what he was last night for the last eight years, there would be no Republican Party. He would have everybody."

If Obama had governed the way he said he believed in the Wednesday speech, there wouldn't be a Republican Party today because every Republican would have signed on with it," Limbaugh said. " Because it was the conservative Republican Reagan agenda spelled out for the most part. … But that's not who Obama is."
