Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney may beat President Barack Obama to the punch in announcing a jobs program. The White House has announced that the president is developing a jobs program that he’ll unveil after Labor Day.

Romney, Obama, JobsNow, the former Massachusetts governor told Fox News Monday that he’ll release his own jobs plan Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day, in Nevada, The Hill reports.

Romney previously traveled to Nevada, which is one of the states hit hardest by the housing collapse, to discuss the economy’s problems.

Romney didn’t give any preview as to what his proposal will include. But he did trumpet his history on jobs and the economy, saying he is “proud” of his leadership at Bain Capital, the private equity titan he co-founded.

The jobs plan represents part of a sequence of policy prescriptions Romney will lay out after Labor Day, as he ramps up his campaign for the Republican nomination.
