Florida Gov. Rick Scott Friday praised Donald Trump for his stance on law and order and said that he and the GOP nominee's goals match many he's aimed toward in his own state.

"He's said we have got to vote for the survival of the dream of this country, and we're going to treat everybody with respect, and I agree with him," Scott told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program. "We want jobs, we want law enforcement, we want ISIS destroyed, we want to focus on what's good for all Americans and make in the America we all can be proud of."

Scott also believed that in his speech Thursday night, Trump was effective while making his case against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"Let's look how we all think Hillary Clinton's been treated differently than you and I would be treated," said Scott. "He also knows that in the last seven and a half years our law enforcement community has not been treated with respect, and he's going to do that."

Scott said he tries every day in Florida to make sure the law enforcement community "knows they're loved."

"I want them to show up for every citizen in my state, that's why we're at a 45-year low in our crime rate," he commented. "[Trump] is going to do the same thing nationally."

Scott said he also has faith that Trump will "destroy ISIS," a terrorist organization that clearly impacted his state during the Orlando nightclub shootings this summer.

"We lost a journalist, Steven Sotloff, in 2014, and we just lost a young girl in Bangladesh, from Miami, from an ISIS-inspired terrorist. So, clearly ISIS is here, and it's impacting us right now."

Scott continued that he believes the Trump campaign has been energized by this week's GOP convention.

"We're behind Donald Trump," said Scott. "I've been behind Donald Trump for a long time, but his race was similar to mine in 2010, a business person coming in, didn't have any endorsements and won because he went to the people. That's what Donald Trump has done, and that's what this week did. He has energized the entire Republican Party and also independents because his message resonates to all of us."

Trump is leading in Florida, said Scott, because he's talking about jobs.

"We know that the federal government is a drag on our economy, and if I had a partner in Washington, we'd even do more," Scott told the program. "We know we need law and order and to focus on destroying ISIS. Hillary Clinton has never created a private sector job, had her chance to destroy ISIS and failed. So she's just four more years of Barack Obama, and we know that has not worked in our state."
