President-elect Donald Trump plans to hang a letter former President Richard Nixon wrote to him in the Oval Office, Politico reported.

In the letter, dated Dec. 21, 1987, Nixon told Trump his wife, Pat, had just seen him interviewed by talk show host Phil Donahue and was impressed with his performance.

"I did not see the program, but Mrs. Nixon told me that you were great on the Donahue Show," Nixon wrote. "As you can imagine, she is an expert on politics, and she predicts that whenever you decide to run for office you will be a winner!"

Trump showed the letter to TMZ founder Harvey Levin during a one-hour special aired on Fox News Channel.

Nixon "always wanted me to run for office," Trump told Levin.

The former president's grandson Christopher Nixon Cox was said to be among Trump's Thanksgiving guests at Mar-a-Lago and was under consideration to be ambassador to China before Trump chose Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, R-Iowa, according to Politico.

Trump also might move the bust of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill back to the Oval Office, according to a tweet by Nigel Farage, who helped lead the Brexit effort.

President Barack Obama replaced the bust with one of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., and moved Churchill to the Treaty Room.
