A GOP operative and a conspiracy theorist have joined forces to look for a candidate that can replace Texas Sen. Ted Cruz when his term ends in 2018.

"We're actively looking for a candidate," operative and Donald Trump supporter Roger Stone told The Hill.

Stone and Infowars founder Alex Jones had drinks together Wednesday night after Cruz refused to endorse Trump for president in his speech at the Republican National Convention. The topic of conversation, reports The Hill, was how to get Cruz out of office.

Stone didn't mince words when describing Cruz, who left the stage Wednesday night in a shower of boos.

Cruz is a "dumb son of a bitch" and a "butt boy for the Bushes disguising himself as a conservative. I'm not a fan."

Stone is a longtime friend of Trump and said he would like to see Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick step in and challenge Cruz in the 2018 midterm primary.

"He'd be my choice, but in all honesty, anybody who is registered in the Republican Party in Texas would be better than Ted Cruz," Stone told The Hill.

For what it's worth, Patrick spokesman Allen Blakemore told the website his boss is "not interested" in pursuing a Senate run.

Many Republicans were furious with Cruz Wednesday night, with reports of shouting matches in the halls at the Quicken Loans Arena coming out.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Thursday Cruz "dishonored himself and the convention. I am absolutely disgusted with what he did last night."
