Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and his supporters must not wreak havoc at the Democratic National Convention, warns Ed Rendell, who is in charge of putting together the July gathering in Philadelphia.

Speaking on "The Cats Roundtable" Sunday radio show on AM 970 New York hosted by John Catsimatidis, Rendell said “I think it’s going to be a great convention, but of course the key to it is the Sanders people... His supporters have to behave and not cause trouble. And I think they will, and I think Senator Sanders will send them a strong message.”

Rendell, who served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 presidential election, said that frontrunner Hillary Clinton will be the nominee but that she has to have a strong showing in the upcoming primaries to leave no doubt that she is the clear winner.

Looking ahead to the November presidential elections, Rendell said about Trump that "although he is a good showman and charismatic guy is some regards, he is incredibly erratic and incredibly divisive."

He said that Clinton is the clear favorite against Trump, but emphasized that "the Democrats would make a big mistake to take him lightly."
