The best way to lower the tension and anxiety among Republicans is for presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump to state that he does not want to rewrite the party's platform and to release names of those he thinks would make great Supreme Court justices, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told Mike Gallagher on his radio show.

Priebus emphasized that this would help those Republicans wavering over their support of Trump to realize that there is more in common among the different factions within the party than what separates them and that it is crucial to unify behind the nominee if there is to be any hope of winning the White House in November.

The important thing to ask those Republicans who say they may not back Trump is what would make you get on board, Priebus said.

He added that this Thursday's scheduled meeting between Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan, who is chairman of the Republican National Convention in July, is a crucial step towards that unity. This comes following tension between Ryan and Trump after the speaker said last week he was not ready to endorse the real estate mogul for president.

Priebus said "I don't think…the way we are going to get [to unity] is by jamming people up and forcing people into a box," stressing that everyone should be allowed time to come to realize that supporting Trump is the best option.
