Most Republicans believe Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich should drop their bids for the GOP presidential nomination, but Democrats are not quite so sure when it comes to Bernie Sanders, a new Rasmussen Reports poll released Tuesday says.

According to the telephone survey:

Among Republicans:
  • 39 percent believe Cruz should stay in;
  • 52 percent say he should drop out;
  • 5 percent say he should mount a third-party campaign.
  • 21 percent believe Kasich should stay in;
  • 69 percent think he should leave;
  • 4 percent favor a Kasich third-party run.
Among Democrats:
  • 37 percent say he should remain;
  • 39 percent say he should quit;
  • 20 percent believe he should become a third-party candidate.
Meanwhile, 91 percent of the Democrats polled believe Hillary Clinton will become their party's nominee, while 89 percent of Republicans believe Donald Trump will be theirs.

The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted on April 27-28 and had a three-point margin of error.

In a separate Rasmussen Reports poll released on Monday of voters overall, 41 percent said Cruz should stay in; 47 percent called for him to leave. Meanwhile, 30 percent thought Kasich should stay in and 47 percent thought he should drop out.
