Around 69 percent of people who took a CNN/ORC poll see potential conflicts in Donald Trump being chairman of his Trump Organization while running for president and believe he should step down while running for president.

CNNPolitics reported the results of the poll, which took place by phone with 1,001 adult Americans between June 16 and June 19.

According to the poll:
  • 69 percent of those who took the poll believe Trump should step down the Trump Organization leadership job while he runs for president.
  • 28 percent of those who took the poll believe he should remain at the job.
  • 3 percent had no opinion.
Likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton already exited her role in the Clinton Foundation. Her husband, former president Bill Clinton, remains with the foundation. A majority of the poll's voters believe he should stay in that role.
  • 60 percent of those who took the poll believe Bill Clinton should continue to work with the Clinton Foundation.
  • 38 percent believe he should step down while Hillary Clinton is involved in politics.
  • 2 percent had no opinion.
According to a breakdown of poll results, Republicans are somewhat split on whether Trump should stay on as president of the Trump Organization.
  • 53 percent of Republicans in the poll believe he should step down, compared to 79 percent of Democrats and 70 percent of independents.
  • 44 percent of Republicans in the poll believe he should stay
  • 2 percent had no opinion.
Republicans are of two minds on whether Clinton should keep the job: 48 percent say he should keep it, while 49 percent say he should step down.

Independent voters lean more toward Clinton keeping the Foundation role, with 53 percent in favor of him staying and 44 percent believing he should step down.

Trump's status in polls appears to be trending downward, according to Business Insider. However, his fundraising appears to be on the rise — he raised at least $19 million in a joint initiative with the Republican National Committee.
