Sales of the pocket-size U.S. Constitution are booming in the wake of Khizr Khan waving it during his speech at the Democratic National Convention, according to The Washington Post.

Khan, father of Humayun Khan, a U.S. soldier who was killed in a suicide attack, waved the pocket Constitution in response to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's call to ban Muslims from immigrating to the U.S.

Khan pulled out a copy of the pocket-size edition during the speech when he addressed Trump. "Have you even read the United States Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy."

The $1 pocket-size Constitution issued by the nonpartisan National Center for Constitutional Studies is the second bestselling book on Amazon, second only to J.K. Rowling's latest Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."

The Post reports that pocket-size Constitutions were a staple of the Tea Party movement, but they were first printed in 1965, according to Slate.

The pocket Constitution became prominent following the Watergate scandal, when chairman of the investigation Sen. Sam Ervin, would pull out a copy during hearings.

Both Democrats and Republicans use the pocket-size version and every member of the House and Senate is issued a copy.

The American Civil Rights Union and the Cato Institute sell them on their websites and the Heritage Foundation sells a Spanish-language edition.
