Pelosi More Focused on Fate of 49ers than Christie's Bridge-Gate

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says she hasn't followed the so-called bridge-gate controversy surrounding New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie that closely, but would be concerned if it ends affecting the San Francisco 49ers' chances of making it to the Super Bowl.

"Actually, I'm concerned about the transportation to the Super Bowl when the San Francisco 49ers win the next two games and go from the West coast to the East coast," Pelosi said at a press conference Thursday.

According to Politico, that was her response when asked if she had any thoughts on the news that Christie aides had played a key role in closing down the lanes last year on the George Washington Bridge connecting New York and New Jersey that caused massive gridlock for days.

The Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The 49ers are currently in the NFL playoffs and must win two more games to make it into the championship game.

"You probably were noticing that I have an extraordinary amount of bling, which is uncharacteristic for me," the California Democrat said as she flashed a 49ers-inspired charm bracelet.

"But we got the two stadiums, the old stadium and the new stadium, Joe Montana's shirt, the helmet, the rest of it here," she said.

But she didn't leave reporters hanging on the Christie question, as she noted Christie's reaction to the controversy at a news conference earlier Thursday.

"I wouldn't think of getting involved in that discussion except to say that the outrage that the governor demonstrated this morning, or was it yesterday, I saw it this morning, was certainly justified," Pelosi said. "I don't know that much about it, you're right, it's not part of my responsibility."

But she added, "I do know that if it were a Democratic governor, I can just imagine what Chris Christie would be doing under those circumstances."
