Rep. Charlie Dent, R-Pa., said Tuesday the dysfunctional atmosphere in President Donald Trump's White House is making legislators' work difficult.

"We have got a lot of work to do up here on Capital Hill, but we deal with this daily drama, it doesn't make our jobs any easier," Dent told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"I'm very concerned about the continuing drama, chaos, instability, and dysfunction coming out of the White House," Dent said.

"I've come to expect a certain amount of dysfunction in government, but they have taken the fun out of dysfunction. This is really tough and . . . this is not easy for any of us," the congressman added.

Regarding reports Trump had considered firing special counsel Robert Mueller, Dent said that would not stop the investigation into alleged Russian collusion.

"You can't fire the FBI," Dent said. "These investigations are going to continue."

"We're not able to deal with the basic elements of governing right now," Dent said, referring to appropriations, the debt ceiling, and other issues.
