NRSC Raises $3.2 Million in November

By    |   Friday, 20 Dec 2013 11:53 AM

The National Republican Senatorial Committee raised just under $3.2 million in November, coming in behind the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which posted its best non-election fundraising month ever with more than $5.1 million.

But according to NRSC Communications Director Brad Dayspring, the bank accounts of both committees will be close to even going into the 2014 elections when factoring in debt the Democrats are still carrying, CNN reports.

As the bank accounts stand now, according to Politico, the DSCC claims to have more than $12 million in cash and an outstanding $5 million debt. The NRSC claims to have $6.4 million in the bank and no debt.

The DSCC held three fundraisers hosted by President Barack Obama in November. The DSCC credits the president for helping the organization raise more money than ever before in a non-election year November.

But Dayspring told Politico, "Turns out that Senate Democrats fundraising claims are all hat and no cattle and with the map rapidly expanding, that's another ominous sign that their Majority is slipping away."

Dayspring also noted that the current figures for both Senate committees are reminiscent of late 2009, before Republicans brought in a huge haul to start the 2010 midterm elections.

The Democrats for now control the Senate by 55 seats, including two independents who vote with the Democratic caucus. But the Democrats are defending 21 of the 35 chamber seats up for election this year.
