The New York Observer Thursday endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton in the Empire State's Democratic primary on Tuesday, saying that her "experience" qualified her over "one-issue candidate" Bernie Sanders.

"Ms. Clinton may be the most uniquely qualified person to run for the presidency in a generation," the newspaper said in an editorial. "Her work as secretary of state gave her first-hand experience understanding complex foreign policy issues and dealing with allies and adversaries.

"Her service as New York's junior senator demonstrated that she understood how to leverage federal agencies, pierce the byzantine budget process and find support from Republicans to secure essential funds for New York after 9/11," the editorial continued.

"And her perspective gained as first lady — to say nothing of the bruising battle to reform healthcare — was invaluable.

"It is difficult to think of another candidate with such varied and valuable experience," the newspaper said.

The Observer is owned by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Republican front-runner Donald Trump. He is married to the developer's oldest daughter, Ivanka.

The newspaper endorsed Trump in the GOP race on Wednesday.

Regarding Sanders, the Observer ripped the Vermont senator for advocating that "all ills will be solved by taxing Wall Street and breaking up large financial institutions.

"Beneath this populist screed, however, is not just economic theory but years of economic experience — which unfortunately, Mr. Sanders appears not to have learned," the editorial said.

"Mr. Sanders is too disingenuous — and his young supporters too bereft of substantive historical knowledge — to remember that Socialist theories simply have not worked.

"The inevitable outcome of Mr. Sanders’ policies would be to Make America Greece Again," the editorial board said in a parody of Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign slogan.

Clinton and Sanders most differ on foreign policy, the newspaper said, though cautioning, that "we may not agree with much of President [Barack] Obama's foreign policy — we have editorialized forcefully against much of it."

Still, Clinton's "experience at the crucible is invaluable.

"She recognizes that the world is a dangerous place," the editorial added. "Sometimes we can and must forge alliances to pursue our national interests; other times there is a need for solitary, difficult leadership."
