House GOP Secures $20 Million Credit Line for Midterms

By    |   Monday, 22 Sep 2014 06:16 PM

The National Republican Congressional Committee has 20 million reasons to pick up seats in the coming midterm elections after securing a $20 million credit line.

The Hill reports that the NRCC is $33 million behind the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in fundraising this year, while the DCCC has an additional $9 million in cash.

The credit line will allow the GOP to spend some extra money in the homestretch of the midterm elections. According to The Hill, the NRCC will most likely not max out its credit line.

House Republicans secured a credit line of the same amount last fall but only borrowed $12 million.

The DCCC, according to The Hill, is contemplating securing a credit line as well.

The news comes days after GOP senators donated $3 million from their personal campaign funds to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raised $7.7 million last month, $1.6 million more than Republicans raised. The DSCC has upward of $25 million in cash on hand, compared to the RSCC's $19.9 million.
