Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said Friday that he is "prepared" to vote for a bill that would repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act.

When asked on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" where things stand on healthcare, Rubio said, "we will get something done."

"I want to get this done right, but I also want to get it done in a timely fashion."

He said that although it's "important" to give insurance companies "certainty about what the future looks like," he has another reason for supporting healthcare overhaul.

"I ran for election in 2010 on the promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare. I was re-elected in 2016 with the same promise. I'm going to keep that promise. I am prepared to vote for a bill to repeal or a vote to repeal and replace," Rubio said.

"I want to influence the direction that that goes, but ultimately, it would truly believe that Obamacare is doing damage to our country," he continued.

"Anything that makes it better than what is right now, within our principles and within the promises that we made, that's what we should do. And if we don't, then I think people have a right to ask themselves what's the point of having Republicans if they are not going to do what they said when they ran for office."
