Liberal weblog Daily Kos and activist groups ActBlue and Swing Left announced in a joint statement that 45,000 small donors had brought in millions to support Democrats after the House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act on Thursday, according to Business Insider.

"Americans are horrified that congressional Republicans just voted to take away their health care, and that's rekindled real anger — anger the Daily Kos community is channeling with record-breaking donations at unheard-of speed," according to David Nir, the Daily Kos political director.

Daily Kos said it raised $800,000 from 17,200 donations in less than 24 hours after Thursday's AHCA vote in the House, the Washington Examiner reported.

Swing Left, a group partly formed by the Pod Save America podcast, said it raised more than $800,000 from almost 20,000 donors, according to the Examiner.

In the Business Insider report, Swing Left said it raised more than $150,000 in the first hour after the healthcare bill was passed, and more than $800,000 on Thursday alone.

ActBlue hosts a portal that allows donors to send money to the political candidate or group that they choose. The group told Business Insider Friday that it had raised over $4 million on Thursday—including over $400,000 targeting Republicans who supported the AHCA.

"Across America, grassroots Democrats are drawing a line in the sand on healthcare today and making their voices heard," ActBlue Executive Director Erin Hill said.

"They're flooding their elected officials' inboxes and voicemails, organizing protests and direct actions, and talking to their neighbors about what's at stake," Hill added.
