The United States needs to spend $3 trillion to $4 trillion on infrastructure, according to Rep. Joe Crowley, D-N.Y.

"I think we really need to have a robust infrastructure plan. I'm not talking a trillion dollars; I'm talking three to four trillion dollars," Crowley said Monday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"Really rebuild America, really invest in the future . . . you create these jobs, they're bridge jobs. You're building bridges, but you're also investing in the future," said Crowley, the chair of the House Democratic Caucus.

He said those jobs are where Democrats should focus.

"Simplify, don't make it too complicated. Just go right at it. We want to bring back jobs to America, five to 10 million of those kinds of jobs," Crowley said in the "Morning Joe" interview.

On July 16, Crowley also discussed the future of the Democrats, saying that his party must work on its core message. "We're doing everything we can to simplify it, but at the same time provide the meat behind it as well," Crowley told The Associated Press.
