Donald Trump confirmed Director of National Intelligence James Clapper called him Wednesday about the leak of a dossier of unsubstantiated negative information on the president-elect's ties to Russia.

Trump said in his first Twitter post Thursday that Clapper called to "denounce the false and fictitious report."

Trump on Wednesday suggested the intelligence community might have leaked the information.

Clapper issued a statement Wednesday night saying he had assured Trump the leak was "not a U.S. intelligence community product, and that I do not believe the leaks came from within the intelligence community."
