Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen announced on Thursday her bid for the Nevada Senate seat now held by Republican Dean Heller, The Hill is reporting.

"Now more than ever, Nevadans deserve a senator they can trust to be an independent voice standing up to President [Donald] Trump, not his enabler" said Rosen, who hopes to take on Heller in the 2018 general election.

"Sen. Heller might not sound like President Trump, but his voting record shows he supported Trump's agenda 100 percent of the time in his first 100 days."

Hillary Clinton won Nevada in the 2016 presidential election.

Rosen could face a possible primary challenge from Democratic Rep. Dina Titus, who has indicated she is seriously considering make a run for the Senate seat, The Nevada Independent reported.
