Sarah Palin to Visit Iowa

By    |   Monday, 08 Dec 2014 05:49 PM

Just in time to fuel speculation for the 2016 presidential election, Sarah Palin is returning to Iowa, the first stop on the grueling road to the White House.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate and ex-Alaska governor will join other conservatives for the Jan. 24 Freedom Summit in Des Moines.

She will appear with fellow Republicans Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, now a Fox News host. Cruz is a likely presidential candidate for 2016, and the Washington Post reports Huckabee has been hinting about a possible run.

The Huffington Post reports Santorum is also making noises, and Palin has been teasing supporters all year.

Right now, however, Palin is having fun hunting in Texas.

The forum is sponsored by Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa and the group, Citizens United, which won a 2010 Supreme Court case to prevent the federal government from restricting independent political spending by nonprofit organizations.

"The Freedom Summit will focus on how we can get America back on track by focusing on our core conservative principles of pro-growth economics, social conservatism, and a strong national defense," the group said.

"This must-attend summit in the Hawkeye State is free to the public and will be held at the historical Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines nearly a year before the pivotal Iowa Caucuses."
