Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said Wednesday he doubted the information leaked to WikiLeaks during the presidential campaign was done by Russia, The Hill reported.

"I went to the classified briefing; I listened to the intelligence community give us their version," King told "MSNBC Live." "That was not convincing, and they didn't divulge a single fact. They only gave an opinion.

"When I hear [former CIA head] John Brennan with the venom that seems to be in his voice after Donald Trump was elected president, it's not hard to imagine that in the intelligence community, Donald Trump has his enemies and those enemies are not as restrained as they ought to be.

"I don't know how far they would be willing to go. But I've heard too much of this dishonesty coming out of some of the intelligence community to accept this at face value, unless I hear some facts."

The WikiLeaks topic came up when MSNBC played a reel of video highlights from the campaign trail where Trump consistently praised the organization for leaking information, including thousands of Hillary Clinton's emails.

King, who was on the show to talk about the resignation of Michael Flynn as national security adviser, has constantly questioned whether Russia was behind any cyberattacks.
