Huckabee Jabs Rubio: Voters Want Someone 'With Some Gray Hair' in Cockpit

By    |   Sunday, 21 Jun 2015 05:43 PM

He didn't mention Florida Sen. Marco Rubio by name, but former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee seemed to take a swipe at his GOP presidential rival on Sunday when he said voters need a candidate "who has been through the storms."

Appearing Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York,  Huckabee said he has been through those storms "both politically and governmentally."

"If you look up at the left seat of the cockpit, and you’re about to fly through a thunderstorm, you want to see somebody up there with some gray hair who has done this before," Huckabee told host John Catsimatidis, "not someone who has just got out of flight school.”

Rubio has made his youth a major argument for why he should be elected, often noting that at 43 he is 23 years younger than the expected Democratic nominee, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is 66.
